The Throne

How cute! It even has it's own toilet roll holder.

Okay, so I know that we are miles away from potty training, but my hairdresser gave Sofia this beautiful bear potty chair. I bought it home last night and Sofia insists on sitting on it. She reads books there (yeah well that's good practice) and she eats her snacks there (okay, not so much). In any case she loves her new throne so maybe when the time comes she will dazzle us with her ability to go in her own potty. A mama can dream, can't she?

Ladies, whatcha doin' in there?

I am sorry, but this was the funniest thing ever. I know I shouldn't take photos and laugh at my child's suffering, but this was just too good to pass up, and this wasn't even the best photo - my camera wasn't ready for that.

Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner tonight and we had a lovely meal sitting outside. After dinner and a little playing on the toys outside Grandma and I went in to fix dessert. Clyde had put Sofia's bib back on in readiness for the sweet treat that was to be forthcoming from the kitchen. What Clyde did not know and so failed to pass on to Sofia, was that there was cream to be whipped and berries to be washed and that dessert would not appear on the table with the speed they had anticipated. Terri and I were having a lovely chat while the cream whipped only to turn around and see this pathetic face pressed up to the window. I swear the look in her eyes could have killed. I mean, how long can it possibly take to make dessert?

Fair Fun

Today, we braved the heat (and it was brutally hot) and the crowds and took Sofia to the California State Fair. Grandma and Grandpa accompanied us and we did all the things you are supposed to do at the fair. Sofia survived it pretty well considering the lack of a real good nap before we arrived.

Here is a not so brief summary of the day.

Awesome horse choice Sof!! Love the mohawk.

Sofia made this exchange by herself. Guess she decided that Mummy should wear the ridiculous hat and she would be quite happy with the sunnies thank you very much!

Her first roller coaster. The girl has no fear. She went all the way around over and over and over again with a grin plastered on her face. You have to look pretty close to see her little red flowers poking above the top of the seat, but I can assure you she is in there.

Ahhhhh.....a nice cool beverage.

Hanging with Grandpa and below her newest friend.

Riding the spinning balloons with Dad. Yip, she likes going in circles as well. Good thing Daddy's tummy is up to this kind of stuff.

Then we took Sofia over to the petting farm. She loves her Barclay and Jeeves but we weren't too sure how she would be with the farm animals. Not to worry....she loved them all. It was so sweet to watch the way she got down to their level. Many of them even received hugs and I am sure they would have gotten kisses too if we had allowed. I don't need to tell you just how filthy the bath water was tonight.

Snack time.

Okay, now who are these crazy people?

Riding the monorail and checking out which rides to ride next year.

Nothing else to do but finish up with an icecream.

Eat your hearts out people.....

We have just booked this bungalow out for a couple of nights on Waiheke Island when we head home to New Zealand. Right on the beach.....Sof ought to be in her element. I'm feeling the ocean breeze with a good glass of wine already. How oh how am I going to get throught the next three months of work?

Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are!!

Have I told you just how much Sofia loves Jeeves? She just adores him! She wants to kiss him and hug him and play with him and chase him. She waves goodnight to him before every nap and before she goes to bed. She wants to give him her food. She calls his name whenever she sees him "Geez! Geez!" He is her best buddy, the only problem being, he wants NOTHING to do with her.

So, Jeeves has found himself a new napping place, as far away from little girls as you can get in a teeny tiny house - behind the couch. But, that doesn't stop her. She still finds him. She just hasn't quite figured out how she can pet him from here. So Jeeves, you are safe for a little while longer but if I were you, I would sleep with one eye open.

Beach Baby

How fortunate are we!! We live so close to such a great city and Clyde and I are very guilty of not taking full advantage of all of the wonderful things it has to offer. So, to remedy this, we headed off Sunday morning with friends to take Sofia to the beach. Well, in typical San Francisco style, it was a bit cold and gloomy but nothing could put a damper on Sofia's enthusiasm for the beach. Did I mention how much I love this girl? She barely got down the stairs and she flung herself into the sand. She then proceeded to lean forward and plant her whole face into the sand which is why in all of these photos, if you look close enough, you will see the sand boogers that she sported for the rest of the day. She had SOOOOOO much fun. She collected feathers and seaweed. She built sand castles. She ran, and ran, and ran. She had no fear of the water and stood there and waited for the waves to come to her and then laughed and laughed (and let me tell you.....that water was NOT warm). She loved seeing all of the dogs and the kites. It was wonderful to see her have so much fun. After cleaning up, we headed over the road for lunch. Sofia was absolutely smitten by Adam. Maybe it was his new "do"....who knows, but the last two photos are Sofia flirting with Adam. I hope he is going to be around to help fend off the boyfriends!!!!

So, I do apologize in advance for the photo overload, but here goes......
