Sofia: No Daddy! I got it!

Lake Tahoe

What could be better than a long weekend, long summer days, and a beautiful lake close by? In short, pretty much nothing. Since moving up north, Clyde and I have been very bad at not making the most of some stunning places to visit up here and so, in an effort to get out more, and use our trailor more, we headed off to Lake Tahoe for Memorial weekend.

Sofia was super excited to go away in the trailor. So excited, she insisted on eating dinner out there the night before we left. Being in the trailor also meant a first for her....she slept in her sleeping bag in a big girl bed. No accidents all weekend and no escaping during the middle of the night into Mum and Dad's bed. She did awesome. Not so much so that we are ready to convert her bed at home. As long as she is happy in her crib, I am content to leave her there but in a small confined space in the trailor it made things much easier not to have to deal with a pack-n-play.

All Sofia wanted to do the whole weekend was be at the beach. We found a nice little beach with a playground and hung out all morning Saturday. While it wasn't super warm (there was still a fair amount of snow on the mountains), the water was freezing cold, and the weather forecast promised thunderstorms all weekend, we had clear blue sky the whole time.

Our campground had a heated pool and Sofia went swimming both Saturday and Sunday. She took to the water again and seemed to pick back up right where we left off at the end of last summer. She was jumping right in and did not want to get out. In fact we had a major meltdown both days after dragging her out of the water with her teeth chattering because she was so cold. I do believe our girl is part fish.

A drive around to Emerald Bay. Stunning!

A little icecream before we left. Yeah....this is the kiddie scoop!!!

Rock on summer. Can't wait to get back out there again.

A Party

This weekend we had a little birthday celebration for a very good friend who we have not seen for a year. Kris was in town and we decided a party with the girls was in order. I won't tell you which birthday it was, but it was a BIG ONE!!!

Sofia got the party started making sure that eveyone got their feet wet in the whale pool.

Baby Morgan came with her Mama Tracie. Is she not a beautiful little girl? Sofia was smitten. She wanted Morgan to do all the things that she did. Barclay was a little smitten himself. He was very interested in checking her out and he was so gentle and so protective of her. Super sweet.

As soon as Morgan vacated her spot on the blanket on the grass, Sofia stepped in.

Gladys and Tina......love you, girls!!

The chef. Clyde cooked us an amazing meal and took care of everything, dishes included. No girl lifted a finger, we were waited on hand and foot. I think I'll start renting him out for parties.

The party togs.

The Birthday girl.

Sofia of course got in on act and helped Kristin open all of her presents.

And then made off with some of the loot.

Happy Birthday Kristin!!! Hope all of your birthday wishes come true.

A Perfect Day

Sofia and Clyde treated me to quite simply the best Mother's Day. All I wanted was to spend the day outside with Sofia and that was exactly what I got to do. Geema and Papa came down and the boys BBQ'd a delicious dinner for us. Thank you my beautiful family. I am the luckiest Mama ever.

Happy Mother's Day!

The Finished Result

Finally, here are pictures of our finished back yard. Just in time for the summer weather and we are super excited to be able to spend the weekday evenings and our weekends in this back yard. Barclay John is pretty damn happy as well.
