Shhhhhhhh!!

Sofia took her first trip to the Sacramento Public Library this weekend. I think we need to bring her up to speed a little on her library etiquette (climbing in the bin with the books....not good) but they have a wonderful reading chair.

Little Green Lollies

Someone told me when I was a little girl, that peas were just little green lollies. Ummm...not!! I never liked them and even to this day, given a choice, I will choose pretty much any other veg over peas. Sofia however, is a believer. Her new favourite food.....curried peas.

Steppin' Out....

....with Daddy and Barclay John for a stroll around the block. Sofia made it all the way by herself with only a couple of detours to check out a porch and some sprinklers. The rabbit got ditched once. Sofia decided half way around the block that there would be no more free rides for any toys. She let him back in after discovering that he didn't move too well on his own.

The Girl's Got Talent!

It is a well known fact that Sofia is smart and beautiful, but we were not fully aware of just how talented the girl was until we saw the size of the snot bubble she blew. Now that's talent!!!

Easter moments

I love this picture. I guess someone said something funny.

Are you kidding me......another Easter basket?

A ducky robe and ducky slippers.

Happy Birthday Grandma.

Happy Easter

The Easter Beagle, whoops bunny, came to one lucky little girl this morning. And, even though it looks like she can't see her basket, she figured out soon enough how to empty it.

Sweet Spring Sunshine

We took a trip to the Farmers Market in Davis this morning to pick up some goodies for dinner tomorrow and then followed it up with a picnic lunch in the park. The weather was perfect and there were families everywhere enjoying the wonderful Spring sunshine.

We have been so bad about putting hats on Sofia and I am worried that she won't wear them when we need her to in the summer, so we picked out a nice new one and she did really well with it and didn't take it off once.

Look at my girl!!! I keep thinking she is getting so big but the one look at her walking hand in hand with her Daddy shows me that she is still just a tiny wee thing. Look at that concerntration.

I wish I could look half as good as Sofia does in yellow.

The cold girls. No smiles for the camera, just a little moment together.

Why....

....do children find it entertaining to sink their teeth into balloons?

Jelly Wobbles

*************NOTE*************
No child was harmed in the making of this video.
Obviously, Sofia needs a little more practice with the whole walking thing!!!

Italy and Belugas

Okay, so we weren't really in Italy, just up at Toscano Winery for lunch, but doesn't Sofia look swish enough in her sunnies to be in Milan?

Sofia was given her Beluga Buddies t-shirt from Sea World in San Diego by a friend and when we got it I thought it would be forever before she was able to wear it. Well, look at this Kris.....it fits perfectly and you can't see it but the Beluga's sparkle in the sun.

Armchair War

Jeeves finds comfy spot.

Girlie spies Jeeves and decides his comfy spot is really her comfy spot. (What we failed to capture on film was girlie squishing Jeeves in an effort to move him from said comfy spot).

Girlie looks decidedly happy about winning comfy spot.

Girlie decides she really didn't want the comfy spot after all.

Jeeves moves back in for the win.

Polkadots and Ladybugs

Sofia has her very first pair of Converse tennys......thanks Grandma......with polkadots and ladybugs on them. Girlie, you had better start walking soon, because these shoes look like they are ready for some serious toddling.

PINK......

.....STINKS!!!!!

Okay, so Sofia's jammies don't really tell it how it is, but tonight in the Quick household PINK definately is a SUPER STINKER!!

Clyde received his PINK slip today from the school district along with many, many other teachers. I won't bitch and complain on the blog because, well, it just serves no purpose and we have done enough of that around here. We all know how unfair it is for the teachers and more importantly the many students who are affected by this massive cut as well.

So, it looks to be a long, lean summer around here but, we will try to look at it as a chance for new opportunities and fresh beginnings.

As always, Clyde went into the day with his own twist. He wore a pink shirt to school. His kids, always ones to notice when Mr. Q has a new piece of clothing, loved his shirt but appeared to be amazed that they would let someone as old as him into American Eagle Outfitters let alone purchase something there. I guess you can always rely on kids to tell it how they see it.

Hee

Okay out there......you know who you are. You have to stop sending Sofia the cutest gifts ever.......we can't STAND it!!!

Sweet Sunshine

What could be better than moving the clocks forward an hour (aside from the obvious one hour less sleep)? We enjoyed the balmy long evening on Sunday in the front yard with our friends. The kids played in the grass and the ball pit. Poor old Sofia was totally pooped by the end of the weekend and you can see her eyes at half mast. I think she is getting the next round of teeth as it always seems to affect her sleep. She only took one 10 minute nap all weekend and her fingers seemed to be permanently lodged in her mouth but, we still had fun and are so looking forward to wonderful long summer evenings.

A smile, perhaps?

Too Cool for You!!

Little Miss Independent

So I was reading my toddler book the other night and it suggested that now might be an appropriate time for Sofia to start feeding herself. Are the people who write these books stupid? I mean seriously, there was not one single place that Baby Dal did not end up!!!! Sofia was as happy as a clam and very reluctant to give up her spoons but I am afraid Mum doesn't think she can do dinner this way. Sofia's dining independence might still be a ways off.

Lovin' Barclay John

Sof has been chasing BJ all weekend with the sole purpose of giving him some snuggles and Barclay has been ducking away every time she got close. One time, she did manage to lie down on his backside but he promptly moved away again causing the girl to end up flat on her back staring at the ceiling. Well, this evening, probably because Barc was busy with a bone, Sofia got her wish and was able to give her puppy some little girl lovin'.

Steppin' Out!

Yip...it's true!! Sofia took her first steps today - four little ones. Grandma and Grandpa, and Clyde and I were all sitting around after a birthday dinner for Clyde and Sofia was standing up in the center of us all. She took four steps towards me and then sat down. We all cheered and clapped and so of course Sofia grinned and clapped for herself as well. I am not sure if she realized what all the fuss was about and showed no signs of doing it again BUT we all witnessed it. Well done Sofster!!!

Breaking in the Burley

Clyde's kids and parents from school gave us this Burley as a gift for Sofia and we have been itching to get it out and about. So, today we loaded the girl up and took a long walk with it. Next step, we'll add her helmet and then hook her up behind the bicycles. We should be ready to go as soon as the warm weather gets here with enough room in there for all our picnic equipment as well. Now the only question is if Barclay John will ride in there with her.

Little Girl

I can't help but look at this photo and see a little girl and not a baby. Time is flying by!! Maybe it is the teeth, maybe the clothes, maybe it is all that hair or more likely, all three of these things put together but Sofia is most definately an independant little girl now and she sure looks the part.

Remembering Chut

Two years ago we had to put our dear sweet Chutney to sleep. We planted this tree in the back yard right as it was starting to bloom so we would always be reminded of him. Well, this morning the first two flowers burst open and so I think spring is here and I hope our boy is somewhere where he is happily chasing an endless supply of tennis balls.
